after all the rain we have been having and the credit crunch my boss is saying that we do not get paid if we get rained off. my work mates are saying that he should pay us because we are employed. all answers welcome

This will be totally dependent on the terms of your employment.
If you are employed in a permanent capacity, paid for 37 hours per week (or whatever) then if you get rained off then I would think you should be entitled to the pay.
However, if you are paid as a contractor and paid per hour or day you work then I don't think you are entitled to be paid when you are rained off.
Even then this circumstance should be covered by the your contract of employment. If you only have a verbal contract of employment and not a written one your employer can pretty much do what he wants.
