We are a UK based company, we have a US based client who would like to purchase our products and services for their UK operations. They are asking us for a W9 form, is there an equivalent form in the UK? or is there a way around this ?

You wont need a W9 because that is solely for US companies.

What you will need is a certificate of residence, which HMRC will provide in letter form. But it does seem a bit strange, since the services are being provided in the UK.

The W9 form would appear to be a subcontractor's form.

In the UK this was for the construction industry but there is no eqivalent in the UK for that now as all subcontarctors have to be verified by HMRC to enable the correct tax to be deducted otherwise tax at 30% is deducted.

Is your Company within the construction industry ?

They are checking you are taxed, a personal or partnership UTR or ask HMRC for a tax certificate. Write a letter and wait a bit - it will be re-routed to a specialist technician. Do please include a daytime business phone number.
